Well, its been almost all month since I wrote a note here, and i wanted to do that... so..

Random Acts of Kindness

Ya know, things do come around... I was out in front of the Cabin yesterday, using my 14" craftsman chain saw to cut down the 20 foot tall stumps out there. (two of my large ponderosa pines broke off in the wind over the spring) Well, the trees are like 80 foot tall. And i needed to get those tall stumps cut down, and the other 4 very large dead ones down also. at the base of them, I'd say there are about 2 foot thick. I am a computer guy, with handy man tendencies, not a lumber jack. but i have whacked a lot of trees over the years.

Back to the story, So here i am farting around with those big trees, got one down, and was working on stump two. with 4 large trees to go. Two guys had ridden by a few times. eventually they stoped... I'm thinking, ahhh,.... now what... They introduced themselves, (for the live of me i forgot their names within 1 minute...) They said, we are out looking for trees, but it does not look like you have ones we want... (yea, dead ponderosa pines are not real big sellers).... But anyway, we see your having a hard time here, would it be ok if we knocked those down for you? ahhh.... yea,, ....that'd be great...
Back to their truck, pulled out a 36" bar chain saw... looked at me, said, you really need to buy a saw... They looked around, asked where i wanted the trees dropped. i pointed... they spent, what,,, 15, or 20 minutes, dropped those puppies right on the mark, would not take any cash, shook hands and left.. Wow, really nice...

Next day, i still have some plumbing work to fix, namely the kitchen faucet, we could not find the replacement part. Todd and I were out all day, in Show Low, getting the Quads re-registered. (another story for later). ended up buying an entire new faucet, Todd said he had a basin wrench, he would go get and let me barrow.

A bit later he showed up, climbed under the sink, before i had a chance to stop him, and before ya know it he had replaced the faucet!!

so my point.... over the years we all do little nice things for people, just because.
and some days those little niceties come back around... So very nice.

being as now days, i can not do much, for long, it is just unbelievable and wonderful to be the recipient of favors. (and i am sure i have been the recipient of many favors over the years, but, we just don't always know it,... do we...)

As tired as i am, I just wanted to make sure i took time tonight to get this letter posted while it was fresh in my mind, and let the world know, doing little nice things in life, do indeed come back around.
In the case of Todd, seems he is the one always doing me the favors, and I mean ALWAYS. someday I'll be able to do something as valuable for him as the MANY things he does, and has done for me over the years!

On other notes, dogs are good, Abby (the new dog) is a good cabin dog, does not run (much). and stays close to her two Leger's.

all cabin plumbing functional (cept for the outside hose bib, do that next trip).

all large potentially dangerous dead trees are cut (tomorrow is cut up and stacking day).

Quads are once again legal.

must remember to say some extra special thank you prayers tonight.

Almost the weekend

Well, went in the office today... was not bad at beginning of the day, but as the afternoon is starting, really wiped out. Legs hurt like craze... well, enough of that.

The dogs really like there daily walks, short round the block walks, but the sure do enjoy. I make them sit down before they can leave the house.. that drives them crazy, but good training.

Played the Wii game a few times now, very fun, and its probably the reason i am so sort the last few days. may have over did it a bit.

Abby goes to the dogie cleaners Saturday morning, I'll get a few pic's of them after, should be nice and cute.

not much on schedule for the weekend, (at lease i hope so). so that's about it, boring me. back to work.

Wii game and Abby dog updates

Good morning.

Well, got that Wii game yesterday afternoon. lots of fun, not your normal sit on couch or chair game, did the bowling, tennis, and other things from the sports disk. quite the work out. Grace and I even did the Boxing match. Quite the workout. actually I over did it a bit, very sore today. But it seems like it will be a fun thing to do, and gives a bit of a workout. (it even has workout, and training games). Good for us fibromyalgia people. long as you don't over do it.. (which I did).

Abby dog is coming along nicely. really starting to come out of her shell, really likes the daily walks we all go on around the block. Seems to be getting her name down. barked when the door bell rang. (first barking we have gotten). starting to enjoy getting petted, and hangs around for petting more and more.

Back in office today, yes, ears still ringing, maybe slightly less loud.. not sure, cant tell, cause all the ringing in my ears.

Oh yea, vet yesterday, took Abby dog to the vet. she has bad knees. ACL and torn ligaments, on rear legs. current plan, is the Rimadyl Chewables, the Glucosamine Chondroitin, regular daily walks, (which dogs and I both need), and keeping her weight down. We will see how that works out over time. Yea, of course there is an operation they can do to fix / repair that knee damage, but a bit costly. so going to avoid that if possible. time will tell.

other than that, all is well, not much else new... Need to call Amber tonight. been a couple of weeks since i bugged her. QB

Monday, Welcome to April

Good morning (or other, depending where in the world you are reading from!!)

Well it's April already. Soon the 100+ temps will be here in Arizona. but 20 degrees cooler up in the AZ mountains. Will have someone swing buy and twist the main cam around about 1 inch to the west, so the cabin is centered again. my sources tell me it was a wonder full weekend up there. nice and warm. just perfect.

Abby the new dog, is getting better every day. getting more used to her new two leggers, and home. starting to know her new name. and seems less stressed lately. took her for a ride in the truck yesterday, she like to ride, still has not learned to stick her head out the window for dogie flying, but a good rider.

Its off to the Vet this afternoon. just a check up with our normal vet. and i got a nice bag of dogie doo for them.. yummm.

Yes, still got the ringing in the ears (that's me, not the dog). and when i move my eyes, it still changes pitch, and loudness. yes, makes a person crazy after a week and a few days now.

Also expecting my Wii game in the mail today. so that will be something to kill time with later tonight.

hmmm, what else.. cant think of much at moment, if more .. will update later.

Saturday and a new Dog

Well, we ran up to Payson yesterday morning to meet a dog at the humane society. She appears to be a Golden Retriever / Aussie or Border Collie mix. We sat up there with her for about an hour, and brought Toby Dog up to check her out also. She is a bit timid, she had been out on the streets for a few weeks, and was previously just kept in the back yard with her previous owners.

She does not really know any of the good dogie things yet, head out window in truck, belly rubs, etc. Well we decided to go ahead and give her a new home, and take her into the family.

They both did real well together in the back of the truck (i say truck, its a blazer type truck). I sat with them back there for the hour ride home. and we had no problems.

She is just starting to acclimate to her new home. she let me brush her this morning, and we all went for a short walk around the block, she is good on a leash, and seem happy to go around the hood.

She did escape yesterday on me, the doorbell rang, i opened the door, poof, escaped. grace took off in the truck to head her off, i followed on foot. (we have experience in this concept now days). she kept going down the street, but would stop every so often and check things out. really stopping at the parked cars and checking them. when grace got up past her, but could not get a hold of her. I yelled down, just open the back door, and see if she will jump in. Well surprise surprise, she hopped right up into the back seat. Good Dog.

We think her new name is going to be Abby. She is 3-4 years old, and very mellow, a bit skittish, we think she was hit by someone in her past, so we are working on trust issues and not being afraid when we move our hands around her.

She was not eating well first off, (kibble dry food). so Gracie made a run to the store and got some cans (science diet, no recalls there). and mixed the kibble in with the small can of food. she ate that right up. so we will start with that, and slowly convert over to kibble.

She is a groaner.. noisy grunts and groans.. (much like myself). and snores while sleeping.
Knows the dogie door already, and goes outside to do her business.

so that's about it for now, short updates as we get more info on her, she seems smart, grace is well into front door training, (door open, no running away). she is catching on quickly. (treat and pets motivated). very cute. I will get some pictures later today, and post them. She knows sit, and takes treats nicely. We figure in just a few weeks she will be running the place. She has lots of dogie things to learn. QB

its like day 4 or so of this buzz in my head, ringing in ears problem.. maddening it is. about only way to not hear it is to put on earphones, and turn up a CD or radio station. that's all. more later if not busy. QB

Hello all, have not logged on and written for a few days. As most of you know i have fibromyalgia, and take a plethora of meds to help control the pain. fibromyalgia is a chronic muscle pain problem.

Well the Doc had me on Cymbalta for several months, and we decided to change off of that and go to another type of antidepressant. (they are commonly given to people with chronic pain to help control the pain, and the idea of not getting overly depressed about always being in pain).

Anyway, we did the slow progression off of cymbalta, down to zero. Well, quite the drug they got there, about a week after finishing it. the withdrawal symptoms kick in. Google "cymbalta withdrawal hell" you'll get an idea of the long list of withdrawal issues. my biggest problem is ringing in the ears. wow, constant high pitched tone of about 10 thousand crickets. and all pain is amplified. The doc says the worst of it should be over in about another week. mr toad's wilde ride...

So that's why i have not been writing much this week, just a tad hard to concentrate.

I see we got a dusting of snow at the cabin overnight. that surprised me. but we'll take any moisture we can get.

Well it's a beautiful Sunday morning here. 70, no clouds. But i need to track down the train that runs over me every night. Maybe one of those sleep number beds would help. Off to work shortly. should only be a few hours... more later if anything exciting. qb

Nice quiet weekend so far. Sitting here having a big cup of Starbucks Coffee. watching the movie Heat on TNT high def. Been a long time since I watch that movie, lots of stars.

Toby Dog is doing well, bring me all his toys to play with last several days. good boy.

Gotta go into work Sunday afternoon to help install some cabling, so that will break up the day a bit. not much else going on, oh yea, I did order one of those Wii Nintendo games you hook up to the TV. have not had a video game like that in years. should be interesting. people say they are really good now. Should get that sometime next week, so that should be fun.

A rainy Friday

Rained almost all day Thursday, and expecting more today. nice change from sun sun sun. got some sleep last night, just been exhausted all week, so went to bed very early, and for the most part slept through till i had to go to work.

I got some great calls, email, cards, and flowers on Casey's behalf, thank you all very much. Still an emotional wreck over that today... anyway, that's about it for now. oh, Toby dog is doing OK, he is watching the door a bit, but mostly is doing OK. when i got home yesterday, he was taking a nap up on the couch. He is having such a hard time getting around, (as all of us will when we are in our mid 90's). but he did let me pick him up and put him on the bed with me yesterday. which is very odd, he never never never wants to be picked up. but he could not make it up his doggie steps to the bed, and wanted to be up there enough that a pick up was OK this time.

How is it that pets get into a part of your hart that most people never get into? Yesterday was a tough day. My girl Casey dog, was really starting to suffer, refused to eat, and would (as best she could) move away from me when trying to get something in her. OK, so we'll see how the day goes...

I ended up staying home with her, later in the morning, I wanted to run to the bank, she heard the keys jingle, and got up, and followed me to the door, she was taking a ride, that's all there was to it. I picked her up and put her in the truck. we drove around the neighborhood for a while, and she got up a couple time to get her head out the window. We stopped by Burger King, and I got her some Tator tots. she actually ate those up. But by this time her gums and tongue were almost completely white, and breathing was tough.

Got back to the house, and she would not get out of the truck. no way, no how. would not let me pick her up etc. So we sat in the truck for about 3 hours. It was come and go, in and out. I finally decided this was crazy and headed for the vet. We sat outside there for a while, and eventually, she let me pick her up and go in. all done by 12:30. she was calm and peaceful all the way.

How odd, she knew, insisted on a ride, and insisted on not going back into the house. It will be quite awhile for me to get over that day. QB

Well, its a sad time, Casey, our brown dog has Cancer, we found out about a month ago, it's a very aggressive, non-treatable type. She had been doing quite well up till yesterday... not so well now, won't even take her treats today. so it won't be long now. Poor Girl, we love her and will miss her.

Good morning, Wow, the web site got busy today, and the camera connections on the Frontiernet DLS just are not keeping up. so i moved them temporally off the front page so the page would not hang up. the other new web sites are getting busy too. This is going to be so cool, we had talked about starting this type of web site up for quite awhile, but just finally got around to it.

the concept here is anyone can log onto the website http://www.averagejoereview.com/and review anything. Restaurants were our thought up front, those snooty reviewers out there in the world in newspapers and such. What the world really needs is a place to comment on something for the people / by the people.

its a great concept, but we need everyone to join in.

so had a good experience lately, bad one? last pizza delivery was???

Be part of a new movement, and a regular review, its free, and who knows, we all might end up CNBC or something as the success story of the decade or something...
